In a scoop for local business, Audiotech's PE office has been awarded a multi-million rand sub-contract to supply and install the fire detection and voice evacuation systems at the Port Elizabeth 2010 multipurpose FIFA World Cup stadium.The high-tech installation will feature an addressable fire detection system with multiple networked alarm panels monitoring nearly 1000 smoke detectors, as well as a digitally controlled evacuation system using BOSCH Praesideo equipment.

The BOSCH Praesideo evacuation system was chosen for it's compliance with the technical specification, as well as the SANS60849 specification for voice evacuation systems.

'This contract is by far the largest we have been awarded in our 14 year history in Port Elizabeth' says Audiotech PE Branch Manager Lawrence Bricknell. 'We're talking about more than 35km of cabling, nearly 2000 detectors and loudspeakers and 24 amplifiers to be installed before February 2009. Sure, there will be challanges on a contract this size, but we're looking forward to them, and to making a success of the project!'
